A Garden Wedding at Azalea Weddings in Fort Worth
September 27, 2026
Azalea Weddings has a very different feeling from a large traditional wedding venue.
Tucked among mature trees and lush greenery, the property has the feeling of a private garden retreat while still being right here in Fort Worth. The venue is designed for intimate weddings and celebrations, with outdoor spaces that allow the natural surroundings to become part of the wedding-day experience. Azalea Weddings

For the Somodi wedding, that garden setting was one of my favorite parts of the day.
The ceremony space was surrounded by trees and greenery, with the wooden ceremony structure, flowing white fabric and florals creating a beautiful backdrop without taking away from the natural setting.
It felt romantic without being overly formal.
And honestly, that is one of the things I love about photographing weddings at Azalea Weddings—the setting already has so much character that you don’t have to force it.
Getting Ready With the People Who Matter Most
Before the ceremony, the day was quieter.

There were the usual wedding-day details and anticipation, but there were also those little pockets of time with family that are easy to overlook when the day gets busy.

The groom sharing a moment with his mom.

The bride with her dad.

Those aren’t simply photographs of people getting ready. They become part of the story of the wedding day—the people who helped shape the lives of the bride and groom and who were there to witness them beginning this next chapter.
These are the photographs I always want to make time for.
Because years from now, the photographs of the dress and the flowers will still be beautiful, but the photographs with the people you love become priceless.
A Beautiful Outdoor Ceremony
As guests settled into their seats, the garden transformed into the perfect ceremony setting.
The trees created a natural canopy overhead, while the ceremony structure framed the couple against the greenery.

And then came the moment everyone had been waiting for.
The vows.
The first kiss.

And that walk back down the aisle together as husband and wife.

There is something about photographing an outdoor ceremony that I love—the light, the movement of the trees, the surrounding landscape and the way everything feels connected to the environment.
At Azalea Weddings, the garden isn’t just a backdrop.
It becomes part of the wedding story.

Romantic Wedding Portraits in Fort Worth
After the ceremony, we took time for portraits of the newlyweds around the property.
One of my favorite portraits from their day was created right in front of the venue, where the setting provided a beautiful combination of architecture, greenery and natural texture.

This is one of the reasons I love photographing couples in environments like Azalea Weddings.
You can create portraits that feel polished and beautiful without making them feel overly posed or disconnected from the wedding day.

The goal isn’t simply to find a pretty background.
It’s to create photographs that feel like the two of you actually experienced that place together.

And the Somodis’ portraits captured that relaxed, newly-married feeling beautifully.
A Reception Made for Gathering
Then it was time to celebrate.
Long tables stretched across the lawn, surrounded by the trees and greenery of the property. The reception felt intimate and welcoming—a place where everyone could sit together, eat, talk, laugh and enjoy the evening.

Rather than feeling like a formal ballroom reception, the garden setting gave the evening a more relaxed atmosphere.
The kind where people linger.
Where conversations happen across the table.
Where the newlyweds can actually spend time with the people who came to celebrate with them.
And that’s exactly what a wedding should feel like.
A Wedding Cake, a Sweetheart Table & All the Little Details
Of course, no wedding reception is complete without the details.
The wedding cake.

The bride and groom at their reception table.
The rings photographed up close.

The details that might seem small in the moment but become part of the visual record of the day.
I love photographing these pieces of a wedding because they help tell the complete story.
Years later, you don’t just remember what the wedding looked like.
You remember where you were, what surrounded you and what made that particular day yours.
When the Swing Band Started Playing
And then the music took over.
The Somodi reception included a swing band, bringing an entirely different energy to the evening.
Live music has a way of changing a reception.
There is something about watching a band perform, seeing guests react to the music and photographing those unscripted moments between the people on the dance floor that simply can’t be recreated.
These are the photographs where I get to step back and document what is actually happening.
No posing.
No direction.
Just people having a really good time.
La Víbora de la Mar: A Lively Mexican Wedding Tradition
One of the most memorable moments of the Somodi reception was La Víbora de la Mar, a traditional Mexican wedding game and dance often translated as The Sea Snake.

In one common version of the tradition, wedding guests form a moving “snake” while the bride and groom create an arch for guests to pass beneath. Versions vary between families and regions, but the tradition is known for becoming increasingly energetic as everyone tries to keep the line moving. Wikipedia
And photographically?
It’s fantastic.
There is movement.
There is laughter.
There are people hanging onto one another.
And absolutely no shortage of expressions.
It was one of those reception moments where you can put the camera to your eye and simply document the celebration unfolding in front of you.
Ending the Evening Around the Fire
Eventually, the energy of the reception began to settle.
And what better way to end a garden wedding than around a fire?
The Somodis and their guests gathered around the fire pit, creating a completely different atmosphere from the excitement of the dance floor.

The evening became quieter.
More relaxed.
More intimate.
And those photographs around the fire are some of my favorite kinds of wedding photographs because they don’t feel like a grand finale.
They feel like real life.
People sitting together.
Talking.
Laughing.
Enjoying the people they love.
And simply being together at the end of an unforgettable day.
A Relaxed Garden Wedding in Fort Worth
The Somodi wedding was a beautiful example of what makes an intimate wedding at Azalea Weddings in Fort Worth so special.
It wasn’t about creating a wedding that felt bigger than life.
It was about creating a wedding that felt like them.
A beautiful garden ceremony.
Meaningful family moments.
Romantic portraits.
A relaxed outdoor reception.
Live swing music.
A Mexican wedding tradition that had everyone moving.
And an evening that ended around a fire with the people they love.
That’s the kind of wedding day I love photographing.
Not just the big moments, but everything in between.
Because when the flowers are gone, the cake has been eaten and the music has stopped, your photographs are what bring you back to how the day actually felt.
And the Somodi wedding was one beautiful day to remember.
